Gasifier
Pyrolysis of biomass is an age-old process. Fortunately, with age comes wisdom. Much has been learned over the years to improve upon and enhance the process. One such example is CSA Energy’s technology which uses a catalyzed continuous method to convert biomass into a virtually tar-free gas.
This patented technology converts biomass materials into a combustible “synthesis gas” consisting of hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide and trace amounts of heavier gases such as propane.
The design consists of a stratified downdraft gasifier and is further comprised of a delivery system which transports the biomass to the gasifier and removes the resultant activated charcoal.
The following are unique market attributes of this technology:
- Multiple patents;
- By-product produced is commercially viable activated charcoal rather than ash;
- The synthesis gas is useable as produced (meaning virtually no gas clean-up required);
- Scalable and modular design provides greater flexibility in deployment;
- Simplicity of design provides a robust system that is easier to operate with less maintenance and down time issues;
- The system operates at near atmospheric pressures, whereas most competing systems are pressurized;
- The design allows for the option to co-generate or capture thermal energy during operation;
- Can produce power on-site and on-demand;
- Environmentally friendly with carbon-negative attributes.
